"FROG" Eco Event
June 12th -14th 2009

“Come see the valley coming to life” Hop, skip or leap to the White Mountains to participate in our fun, fabulous, farm fresh, recycled, organic, grown locally “FROG” Eco Event. Mark your calendars for the 2nd weekend in June. The Bed and Breakfasts Inn Mt Washington Valley present the first green Inn to Inn event in New Hampshire on Saturday June 13th. The Inns will be hosting an eco-friendly Yankee swap, along with a “Green” raffle. Many local businesses will be participating on Sunday June 14th with free giveaways and promotions. Please join our efforts of striving for a better tomorrow.

FROG stands for Fun, Fabulous, Farm fresh; Recycled; Organic; Grown Locally.  The 13 Inns that belong to the Bed and Breakfast Inn Mt Washington Valley  have been accepted into the New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program.  Each Inn has committed to reduce, reuse and recycle now and into the future.  We were the first association to be accepted and we wondered what we could do as a group to help educate our guests or this initiative.  So the members of the BBInnsMWV have put together a green "FROG" event for June 13th.  As you visit each participating Inn you will learn a little about what that Inn is doing to help reduce their carbon footprint.  You also have the opportunity to exchange some of your treasures for new treasures and maybe win a unique gift.

How does the "FROG" event work?

If you want to participate in the Yankee Swap you will need to bring a few recycled or green items with you.  The items are things you would find around your home that you don't use anymore, things you would put out for a garage sale.

Purchase an ticket at one of the participating Inns.  In addition to your ticket you will get a map showing the location of the participants, a recycled shopping bag, and some raffle tickets.

You will travel to each of the participating Inns and partners on the map.  Each Inn will have a table with about 10 items for the Yankee Swap.  You simply exchange one of your items for something on the table.

Each Inn and partner will have a green gift on display. If you would like to go home with that item you put a raffle ticket in the bowl at the end of the event a winner is drawn. If you really, really want the item you can put all your raffle tickets in the bowl.
